He has been felicitated with Zee Business’ India's Best Equities Technician award in 2009 and is well-known in the advisory field. With over 500 media interactions to his credit, Mr. Shah is sought out by the best in the business due to his incisive understanding of the market and astute forecasts. A self-made individual, his journey is an inspiring one. In 2003, Mr. Shah joined JM Financial as a trainee and climbed the corporate ladder quickly to become a Director and Chief Technical Analyst at the firm, before parting ways in September 2019.
Mr. Shah is well versed in technical research and advisory services and has a gamut of qualifications to his credit such as: CMT from the Market Technician Association (USA), CFTe from the International Federation of Technical Analyst. He also received an MSTA (with Distinction) from the Society of Technical Analysts, London. He is one of the first individuals of Indian origin to hold all the three degrees.
He is no stranger to the bull and bear cycles and the pitfalls of the stock market. What gives Mr.Shah an edge over contemporaries is his acumen and fortitude to navigate through this precarious and unpredictable field by forecasting and capturing stock trends with precision. Several online, print and broadcast media houses have sought his expertise including CNBC, Bloomberg and ET Now to name a few. He was also a speaker at BQ Edge, the signature event of Bloomberg Quint in 2019, alongside great business minds and renowned figures from the asset management industry. He uses a plethora of research tools in his analysis and assessments, which range from the traditional such as the Dow Theory, Moving Averages and Patterns to futuristic ones that are algorithmic and advanced system-based. The alchemy of both approaches helps him formulate a cohesive and comprehensive market view that aids in his forecasts and advisory. One such example of his acumen and competency is the recent market crash from 12000 to 10600 levels (In July-Sep 2019), which he called out correctly. He presented the same on India’s leading business channels and received great appreciation for the same.
Often given the moniker - face of India’s technical research - Mr. Gautam Shah is highly respected and followed by HNI’s, Hedge Funds, Institutions and Retail for his in-depth and watertight market analysis and predictions.
